And while Taylor wasn’t there to show off the footage herself, fans were left in awe at the Shake It Off songstress’ new music video.
Featuring the blonde beauty in a variety of different scenes – such as bursting through the ground as a zombie, and sitting in a bath full of diamonds – the star made a huge impact with her epic new anthem.
But one of the pinnacle moments of the video was at the end of the song – which saw an array of Taylor Swifts through the ages, all mocking each other incessantly.
At one point, Taylor branded herself “fake”, a “b***h”, and said she always “plays the victim” during the hilarious roast of herself – after facing massive backlash over the past few months over her feud with Kanye West and Kim Kardashian.
She also dressed up in the same outfit as when Kanye West infamously interrupting her award acceptance, saying: “I would very much like to be excluded from this narrative.”
And fans were literally in awe over what had happened, taking to social media to share their disbelief.
“TAYLOR SWIFT PLAYING TAYLOR SWIFTS DRAGGING TAYLOR SWIFTS IN ONE OF THE MOST EPIC VIDEOS OF ALL TIME. YEAH, SHE’S WON. #LWYMMDvideo#VMAs,” wrote one, while another added: “No one makes fun of Taylor Swift better than Taylor Swift.”
The single, which went straight to number one on the UK iTunes Singles chart, is the first track from her album Reputation – which is due to be released in November 2017.
One person who didn’t comment on the video was Katy Perry – who was hosting the awards – with the pair being well-known for having some “bad blood” between them. The former friends had an alleged huge fallout in 2014 as they both embarked on tours.
After dancer Lockhart Brownlie spoke out with claims that Katy’s team had pulled him and two other dancers from under Taylor’s feet, things really erupted.
When the trio left Taylor’s tour, he later spoke to newspaper The Examiner to offer an explanation: “Obviously we were with Katy for two and a half years, she’s like family to us. So we were, like, ‘Absolutely’. We weren’t really dancing in Taylor’s tour anyway, so I had got a little bored and I really wanted to do a promo tour.”
However, Katy recently spoke out about the apparent feud, saying: “I’m ready to let it go. Absolutely, 100 percent… I forgive her, and I’m sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her, and I think it’s actually… I think it’s time.”
