Officers responded to a call for help at Brown’s home in the Tarzana neighborhood around 3 a.m. PT. The woman accused Brown of pointing a gun at her in a rage before she ran outside to phone the police. Officers attempted to enter the home, but were told to get a search warrant.
Per TMZ, the incident allegedly occurred after a man and two “uninvited guests” showed up at Brown’s house and were asked to leave. One of the women, who was not invited, phoned the police and filed the report, while someone inside the house insisted that Brown was asleep the whole time.
As of 9 a.m. PT both Brown’s lawyer, Mark Geragos, and LAPD’s tactical warrant support were en route to the singer’s house. Because of the high-profile nature of the case, it has been handed over to the LAPD’s Robbery Homicide Division.
Geragos did not immediately reply to a request for comment.
While Brown has yet to leave his home, he has posted several videos to Instagram addressing the situation. In the first, Brown dismissed the accusations and claims he was asleep and woke up with his house surrounded by police. “At the same time,” he added, “when I call the police for stalker people that are endangering my life, they don’t come until the next day. Then somebody make a fucked up allegation about me, and oh yeah the whole fucking SWAT team.”
In the second clip, Brown said, “I ain’t did shit, I ain’t gonna do shit, and it’s always gonna be fuck the police. Black lives matter.” And in third clip, Brown cheekily promoted his song “Grass Ain’t Greener” and said, “What I do care about is y’all defacing my name as a person, and my character.”
The incident comes several months after Brown was accused of assaulting a woman after a concert in Las Vegas. The musician was ultimately not charged due to lack of evidence. Last March, Brown was officially taken off felony probation, six years after he assaulted Rihanna following a 2009 pre-Grammys party. In 2014, while still on probation, Brown pleaded guilty to hitting a man outside a Washington D.C. hotel room. In 2013, he was charged with a misdemeanor hit-and-run and driving without a valid license, and also got into fights with Drake and Frank Ocean.
