The anticipation for his forthcoming album Callus has been taken a step further as, last thursday, Gonjasufi released not one, but two songs off the new LP. Titled “The Kill” and “Prints Of Sin”, these new tracks are the third and fourth releases from the upcoming album, and they are consistent with the powerful emotion and intensity established in the album’s announcement video. Gonja’s provocative lyricism, fuzzed out synth streams and inauspicious percussion paired with Pearl Thompson’s impassioned and distorted riffage flawlessly communicates what we can expect from the rest of the LP.
Along with the new tracks, Gonjasufi shared the following statement:
Here in the States we are in the middle of a political catastrophe, where we are left with very few positive options. Many of us feel hopeless all while racial & religious tensions are growing stronger. We have to put an end to this hate. It starts at home, within each and every one of us!”
I’ve heard that what you focus on, you attract. This would be ideal in perfect world…yet when i go outside & i am still confronted with hate. The challenge becomes continually embracing the suffering of others around me & taking on their ignorance for them.
Callus is out August 19 via Warp. Check out “The Kill” and “Prints Of Sin” below.
