Celebrity Big Brother never fails to disappoint – and the show’s most recent launch night was no exception.
Welcoming the likes of Shaun Williamson (aka EastEnders’ Barry), Made In Chelsea’s Sam Thompson and Girls Aloud sensation Sarah Harding into the house, Emma Willis seemed eager to get things well underway.
But the bright-eyed presenter was left gob-smacked upon the arrival of Most Haunted icon Derek Acorah – after he revealed he would be smuggling an extra ‘housemate’ into the house with him.
Having mentioned his ‘spirit guide’ Sam in his introductory VT, Emma then went on to ask the psychic-medium about his ghostly colleague.
Introducing the mystery figure to the crowd, the Merseyside-born TV star confirmed: “He’s here.
“He can [help me in the house] but I think that will be unfair on the others because then I’ll have an advantage.”
The 67 year old was also asked whether he thought the house was haunted, and might contain some other ghostly housemates, to which he said yes.
Revealing the reasons behind his response, the star explained: “Because a lot of people have actually worked in these grounds over a long time and the residual energy of their physical stays here.”
After hearing Derek’s words on the potential for paranormal activity, fans appeared divided – with many mocking his ‘spirit guide’ Sam.
One bemused fan questioned: “F*****g Derek Acorah in CBB, wonder if Sam is counted as another housemate? Hahaha sake.”
While a second joked: “#CBB Do Derek and Sam count as two guests? Can we vote out Sam for not joining in or being a dull House Guest?????”
I’m A Celebrity star Scarlett Moffatt even had her say on Derek’s ‘partner in crime’, writing to her 556k Twitter followers: “There’s not enough space for housemates never mind him inviting ghost sam and all the spirits in for a chin wag #cbb.”
